Round1.sg and Tornado Entertainment are proud to bring to you the first ever Super Battle Opera qualifiers held in Singapore.

This year, we are bringing you qualifiers for the Street Fighter IV 3vs3 Team Tournament.

QUALIFYING

There will be three qualifying events to ensure that only the strongest of teams will be able to take the spot.

The first two will be Double Elimination tournaments. The top 4 teams out of each qualifier will advance to the finals. Those who qualify will not have to pay additional registration fees. If you fail to qualify, you are free to register for the next qualifier and try your luck again.

The 8 teams who qualify for the Finals will then be seeded into a final 8 team double elimination bracket where the winner will represent of Singapore at Tougeki 2010 in Japan.

Finals:

Tougeki in Japan:
Saturday & Sunday 18th-19th September
as part of the Tokyo Games Show held at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo.
Street Fighter 4 is on the 19th

RULES

  • Teams of 3.
  • No two of the same character in the same team.
  • No switching of characters.
  • Last man standing. Player order decided before match.
  • Double Elimination for local qualifers. Single Elimination for Tougeki in Japan.

REGISTRATION

Slots are limited. So in order to give priority to local residents, for now registration is only open to Singapore residents. Registration for foreign players will be opened on 1st July.

Registration fee: $7 per person ($21 per team)

After submitting your registration, please make payment at the Customer Service Counter on Level 7 of Iluma to finalise your registration.

WHAT IS TOUGEKI?

From the Tougeki Website:

"Tougeki" is the ultimate top-level event of Arcade fighting games.

It is an international gaming competition to decide "the number 1 rank player of arcade fighting games" among the players who qualified in the preliminaries all over the world. Over 28,000 players took part in local competitions which were held at game centers in every part of Japan. The final match of the competition, is "one of the biggest fighting game competitions" with over 6,000 spectators.

Many players take part around the world, for example, preliminary rounds are held in America, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Korea, Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. In the past, Korean and Chinese players ranked first place! So it can be said Tougeki is one of the greatest world championship event.

Tougeki is the only game competition and event held only in Japan, that people can find enjoyment of competing in dramatic and exciting games.Each one with his own skill, technique, power, and most of all strategy.

TERMS OF AGREEMENT

By participating in this event (SBO Singapore Qualifiers 2010), each member agrees to the following:

  1. To travel to Japan in September 2010 and participate in the grand finals of Super Battle Opera (SBO) 2010. No changing of team members are allowed after registration. As the Japan SBO committee does not allow for the next best team to go in case the qualifying team defaults, the qualifying team must reimburse Round1.sg and Tornado for the costs of the air tickets if at least one member cannot travel.

  2. To be officially sponsored by Round1.sg for one year in the event that they win the finals of this qualifying tournament held on the 31st of July 2010, effective the day after winning
Responsibilities include, to the sponsored party’s reasonable abilities, but are not limited to
  • Acknowledging Round1.sg and Tornado as sponsors in all interviews and media appearances during the sponsored trip to Japan for SBO
  • Acknowledging Round1.sg as sponsors in all interviews and media appearances during the period of sponsorship
  • Make media and/or event appearances when required, and uphold appropriate conduct at sponsored events
  • Upkeep of a team blog, with daily updates in Japan (access to Round1.sg CMS will be provided.)
  • To provide content within the Round1.sg web ecosystem
